The Story

Super Cooper is a brave and strong hero who fights epilepsy (villains) every day. Lately, the villains have taken over.

He has been living with a rare form of epilepsy called Lenox-gastaut syndrome since he was three years old. This syndrome is a med resistant, debilitating epilepsy that slowly takes away his quality of life.

Cooper’s medical team has tried numerous medications, specialized diets, brain surgeries, implants and recently had to induce a coma to try to restart his brain to get his epilepsy back in control. This has taken a lot from him.

In March he was hospitalized for a week to have a Vagus Nerve stimulator implanted as a treatment to try to control his seizures, along with his maintenance meds.

In April he went into a status epileptic state, which is when no medication is able to stop the seizures. This ultimately caused him to be intubated to prevent brain damage and try to restart his brain. He was hospitalized from April 28th to June 8th.

On June 15, Cooper was again hospitalized do to his inability to eat. He spent the weekend in the hospital being followed by a dietician. He was released on Monday with a temporary feeding tube, he will be seen by a Gastroenterologist later in the month and a permanent tube will likely be placed to help with nutrition.

Super Cooper is typically a sweet, loving boy with a wild imagination that loves to keep everyone on their toes with his clever and sneaky superpower abilities (like making his sisters disappear, maybe not his whole sister, just her glasses that day or pulling someone else’s remote out of thin air, still looking for the owner).

We are all working hard to get Super Cooper back. With a nearly month and a half hospital stay, intubation, that resulted in the loss of basic skills, like eating and swallowing. He has little stamina and strength.

Cooper is now only able to handle activity in 40 min increments. Once his nutrition is stable he will be doing some intense rehabilitation for fine and gross motor skill.

This fundraiser is set up to help him get the support he needs without compromising the financial livelihood of the family with the burden of trying to catch up and maintain their basic expenses during his rehabilitation and treatments for care. Cooper also has been given the ok for an epilepsy treatment that is not covered by insurance but his medical team considers this to be the best option of treatment and emergency rescue.

The funds raised will go for helping Cooper’s family with expenses and care. Thank you for considering to help Super Cooper’s family in this hard time, prayers welcome.❤
